Assessing Leadership, Culture,
values and success
Humans are complex
,Where human beings are concerned there is no ‘one size fits all.’ Because we are complex it takes many difference lenses to see into the many facets of our nature with any real success. In my years of consulting I have seen the power that needs and values have in influencing behavior. Out needs determine what foundational belief systems we come to depend upon as well as the values that support those belief systems.
For the most part these foundational layers are put done early in life and once chosen to explain our world experience we rarely revisit those decisions. Can they be changed? Yes I have seen people make those changes, but it takes a deliberate effort of will and a focused consciousness to do so. What makes such changes much easier is the support of those around us. Our friends, family, co-workers and leadership can make all the difference.
It is for these reasons that I find these assessments to be very helpful in working with organizations. By better understanding the hidden needs people have a preference for, a certain leadership style becomes clear, and hence the belief systems that can influence both culture and strategy show up. This rather complicated ‘chain of intention’ can make clear why some things are seen as possible and some are not.
What is magical about human beings is that we can create anything we believe we can, and herein lies the rub. If we do not think it is possible, we cannot create it. This is the hidden power of culture. This is why some strategic plans never see the light of day, because while we can understand the idea, we do not believe we can do it, so they sit on the shelf.

Bird's of a feather™ - Leadership and culture™
This Leadership and Culture assessment highlights the potential conflict between what the culture calls us to do and what we deeply desire to do. The tension between these two aspects of our selves is exactly why some strategic plans work and some don’t. It is exactly why some people seem to ‘fit’ and some don’t. It is exactly why some people can change and some can’t. Understanding these hidden dimensions and working with them makes all the difference between effort and success
Team Example
These two graphics clearly show the huge difference culture can make. this team had a shared desire (shown in the ideal graphic) that they never could talk about because they believed that the culture required them to act as shown in the current graphic.

strategic values™
This assessment showcases the three value sets. This allows for a better understanding of exactly how the values impact culture and clarifies the actions needed to better align culture with strategic needs. There are three systems of values in this assessment that address three different needs: protection, effectiveness, and resilience/regeneration.

resilient values set™
This assessment is crucial in aligning the culture and leadership decision-making with nature. Learning how to see ‘with nature’s eyes’ makes it easier to see the habits we have and the unquestioned beliefs we have that have been undermining our ability to partner with nature.
