Welcome to World Unity Week! In this unsettling time of massive change, collapse, and loss, how are we to behave? What actions can we take to mitigate the anger, anxiety, confusion, and fear that are being felt? Recognizing the reality of our situation is scary and confounding when it is resisted, but there is much information out there that speaks for a different understanding.

What is Gaia already telling us that we are not listening to? How can we learn to 'think like the planet?' Learn how Gaia's regenerative principles and make a difference in your life, not only practically, but spiritually as well.
How can we be ethical human beings? I’ve been consumed with this question for decades. I’ve been fortunate to have the help of Jane Jacobs and her understanding that values are systems, and of Gaia herself as she revealed her Regenerative Principles. This has prompted me to share The Third Way – Gaia’s way as a way to help people develop Planetary Consciousness. My podcast, “Awakening to Earth's Voice” is a way to explore aspects of this while understanding the current state of our lady and discovering many reasons to hope as people actively engage in regeneration approaches.

HOW DO VALUES IMPACT CITY DESIGN AND GOVERNANCE?
There are three systems of values that lie just under our conscious awareness. Because they are tacit we rarely talk about them, but once elucidated they become obvious. We can see how these values have changed over time and the impact they have on our cityscapes. The past has been an unconscious process, but now we are called to make conscious choices. By exploring the three Value Sets we will apply those values to three cities to see the impact these subtle foundational value sets had and have on city life, design and governance.
Rarely do we actually see the impact living our values has on our world. Cities offer a stellar exception. Walk with me through the three Value Sets and discover how each impacts both governance choices and city design. It makes a huge difference if our major concern is safety and a felt need to protect citizens, or if the design is influenced by the needs of the market and the desire for status and self-promotion, or if the desire at the heart of the city is to integrate with nature and become an active instrument in creating a thriving ecosystem and community.

EVOLVING VALUES
As we are evolving as a species so the foundational values we act from have changed. We are entering a very new phase where to even survive we are being called to live from a set of values that connect us to each other and that connect us to the Earth. In this workshop we will explore the three values sets, their implications and limitations and why the conscious application of the 'correct' value set is crucial for our long-term survival.

SPOKANE SIDEWALK CONVERSATIONS

District One held their conversation at the Northeast Community Center.
Breean Beggs invited all residents of District One to offer input and feedback on the ballot initiative to raise funds to actually fix Spokane's sidewalks. People could also participate by responding to the poll found on the registration page even if they could not attend. |
