Author, Coach, Consultant, Speaker
My passion is creating communities that generate enlightened business practices!
I bring my serial entrepreneur experience, having started and run 8 companies and 2 non-profits, 18 years teaching, and 25+ spiritual practice background to my work helping leaders and teams create and navigate the desired future. In my 22 years working with change in organizations I have learned the secret that effective organizations are ethical organizations. Working with leaders and teams to address the need to think differently about their problems, I have been instrumental in co-creating significant shifts in organizations.
Working with companies for over 20 years I now know that it is people who really make the difference. All my leadership experience should attest to that - yet I've only recently really connected to the importance of normal conversation in making leadership happen. There is actually nothing 'normal' about conversation and with the tools and methods I've gained from my certification in Conversational Intelligence® I help my coaching clients see that too!
I'm a serial entrepreneur, mystic, author and educator with a strong background in applying systems thinking to ethics and values thus helping leaders shift behavior to mimic and model the principles that nature has used so successfully for the past 3.8 billion years. As business leaders begin to understand the breadth and depth of the sustainability journey by applying the Sustainable Values Set® to their everyday decisions, making new possibilities open up.
My experience working with companies from Fortune 50 to start ups leads me to believe that medium sized companies and socially responsible/values-based start ups have the potential to not only change our world, but do so in a way that is lasting and…sustainable over the long-term.
My assessments (the Birds of a Feather™ model for leadership and culture and Strategic Values™ for ethics) allow clear and consistent measurement showing progress and pinpointing challenges. I have over 20 years of experience working with change and leadership development in companies of all sizes, that I apply when coaching leaders. I look forward to working with you!
When I was born my mother had Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She was a bitter angry woman. I watched as she wasted her life watching TV and smoking. As a young child I saw many opportunities where she could do something to contribute, but no one listens to a 12-year-old girl.
I hate to see LIFE wasted. When our house was struck by lightening she was moved to the hospital. There she was in a ward with many others as sick as she was. She discovered that all of the other residents appreciated her happy and cheerful attitude. She discovered she had something to offer after spending so many resentful years fighting her illness.
Everyone has a gift! That gift comes from your core, the part of you connected to Spirit, to the LIFE force, to the universe. That part is always healthy. It is always LIFE enhancing. What a wonderful world this would be if we all came from that place. Nature abhors waste and what is worse than a wasted life?
I see health as that authentic part of us, no matter the condition of the body. I strive to be authentic, but I find it much easier when I’m in the company of others who are authentic. My teacher talked about the Lord’s Club. Seems there were Lords from many parts of the country and they wanted to get together and do things so they decided to start a club. No one but Lords would be admitted. They wanted food so a few Lords agreed to cook, a few agreed to set the table and a few agreed to wash dishes. And that’s how the world is run to this day.
I want to live in a world where we recognize the “Lord” in everyone, where people bring their gifts and authentic self through creative self-expression in the service of a vibrant and healthy planet. Where nature is revered for the wisdom she has as we seek to learn and apply that wisdom to our own lives and relationships.
I work with companies to reinforce that by aligning with nature through the application of the Resilient Values set™ in how they do business, profit is how money shows up as part of the exuberant abundance that is nature’s calling.
I work with people to discover their gifts so that they can shine like stars, doing their part to enhance the world with their gifts. Healthy relationships require authentic voice, curiosity, and respectful inquiry to create healthy, robust, and vibrant lives.
My photography is to showcase the beauty and wonder nature has created all around us. I want to inspire us to cherish her and keep her whole.
My Sustainability Statement
We want to save the world. When we talk sustainability so much of our focus is on energy use, not so much on waste reduction. We talk about what ‘the company’ does forgetting that a ‘company’ is composed of people – people who need to change their habits, attitudes and personal relationship with the Earth. When you are your company sustainability is personal.
The seduction of having an internet company is that it feels like “I’m, cool because I don’t use many resources (digital after all).” And ‘There’s nothing I can do since I don’t control my energy sources.” At Bridge To Partnership we know better.
I take my garbage out once a month, that includes both trash and recycled stuff. I do my own cooking and buy little that’s packaged. This is harder in business as reduced packaging has not reached most businesses.
I’m involved with Avista’s buck for a Block program. This is the only way I can impact my energy use. It applies to both my business and personal energy use.
I don’t use pesticides on my lawn or yard. I mulch my cut grass and compost.
Most importantly my writing and business coaching are focused on getting my customers and clients to better understand the deeper and more impactful aspects of sustainability. The three stages: reduced resource use; zero waste; and regenerative practices; offer a framework that is helpful and accessible.
